Thing to do in Ninh Binh

Taking a boat ride is the best way to explore Tam Coc. When visiting Tam Coc, make sure to talk to the local boatman if you’d like to stop for photos, enjoy panoramic views, or climb Bich Dong Pagoda. Experienced boat riders are familiar with the best spots for you to stop and climb the cliffs. Most locals speak some English, but it’s a good idea to travel with a guide if needed. You can book a day tour from tour companies like Full Moon Travel, which offers options such as the Ninh Binh Zeep Tour, Cuc Phuong National Park, Hoa Lu – Tam Coc – Bich Dong Day Tour, and Bai Dinh – Trang An – Mua Cave Day Tour.
In the summer, Tam Coc often experiences heavy rainfall, so it’s advisable to start your visit early. If you get there while the weather is still sunny and cool, you can avoid the afternoon downpours.

Hue

Hue is a city full of stories. Once the feudal capital of the Nguyen Dynasty, the city’s ancient past is reflected in the royal monuments scattered along the fertile riverbanks and forested hills. However, Hue is about much more than its imperial legacy; it’s also famous for its refined cuisine and cultural landmarks. The city is lined with moss-covered pagodas, art deco mansions, and vibrant markets, and through it all flows the Perfume River, lending a serene pace to the entire area

Things to do in Hue City

You can get a feel for the ancient royal Vietnam by visiting the Hue Citadel, where the palaces, pavilions, and theaters of the Nguyen Dynasty are still standing. Don’t miss the tombs of the emperors Tu Duc, Minh Mang, and Khai Dinh, which offer a glimpse into the grandeur of the royal family’s reign.
Hue is also a paradise for food lovers, where you can sample some of the country’s most famous dishes. Wander through Dong Ba Market and taste local snacks like Banh Khoai and Banh Beo, which are beloved in the region.
To explore Hue’s Buddhist roots, head to the serene pagodas and monasteries. The iconic seven-tiered Thien Mụ Pagoda is a must-see, as is Tu Hieu Monastery, where the famous Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh spent his early years as a novice.
For a more relaxed way to enjoy the area, cycle through the rice paddies, where the countryside offers picturesque views and peaceful rides. One of the most captivating routes takes you to the tile-roofed Thanh Toan Bridge, passing by farms and footbridges.
Finally, Hue’s French colonial history is evident in its architecture. Walk down Le Loi Street to admire the art deco lines of La Residence Hotel and the stately red buildings of Quoc Hoc High School.

Hue Weather

The best time to visit Hue is during spring, from February to April, when the weather is mild and the city looks its best. June and July bring the heat, with high humidity, so prepare for scorching days. From August to January, Hue experiences heavy rains, and flooding can occur, especially between October and the end of the year.

Hue Transport

You can fly to Hue’s Phu Bai Airport from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, which is about a 30-minute drive from the city center. Alternatively, you can take a train from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City via the Reunification Express, or hire a private car from Da Nang’s international airport, which is about two hours away. Once in Hue, walking is a great way to explore the Citadel, riverside, and town center. For the Imperial Tombs, taxis are available, or you can rent a bicycle.
